Monica Henningson passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024. Monica was born June 23, 1951 in Provo, Utah to her parents Helen A. Rohbock and Vernon E. Mitchell. She was the middle child with an older brother Michael and a younger brother Martin.

Monica grew up on a small fruit farm in Orem, Utah. She enjoyed helping her dad with the orchards and the farming. Monica graduated from Orem High School in 1969. She attended college in Cedar City, Utah where she earned her Associate Degree studying Elementary Education. She then transferred to Utah State University in Logan, Utah where she graduated in Early Childhood Education. She met her forever sweetheart Allen Vernon Henningson white attending school in Logan.

Allen and Monica were married for time and all eternity on August 2, 1974, in the Manti Temple. Allen and Monica started their life together living in Lyman, Wyoming where Monica taught elementary school. Monica, in support of her husband Allen, would move around the Intermountain West as Allen began his career as a forester with the U.S. Forest Service. They lived in Laramie, Wyoming for a short time where Allen began his career as a Forester. Annalee, their first child, joined the family while they lived in Montpelier, Idaho. For three wonderful years in Montpelier, she continued to teach elementary school and take care of her little family. Another transfer took her and Allen to Duchesne, Utah where they lived for nine years. Scott, their second child would join the family while they lived in Duchesne. She enjoyed teaching elementary school in Duchesne, making many friends and helping students develop a love of learning. The final transfer was to the Fishlake National Forest. Allen and Monica made their home in Central Valley, Utah for 30 years.

Monica enjoyed teaching elementary school and helping students in their studies in all the many places she lived. She also worked for a time as the Children’s Librarian at the Richfield Public Library. She retired in 2012 after working in education for 30 years. She enjoyed her time after retirement and was able to spend time with her many hobbies. She enjoyed scrap booking and working with her many plants. She was skilled in ceramics and cake decorating and also enjoyed canning the vegetables from the garden.

Allen and Monica moved to Cedar City in 2018 to be close to family. 

Monica enjoyed serving in many church callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served many years in the primary and as ward librarian. She has a firm testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ and of His gospel which she served to the best of her abilities.

Monica is survived by her husband Allen, her son Scott (Megan), granddaughter Quincy and her brother Michael Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her daughter Annalee, her brother Martin Mitchell and her parents Vernon and Helen.

Viewing services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 10:30am to 12:00pm at Southern Utah Mortuary- 190 North 300 West Cedar City, Utah. A graveside service will follow at the Cedar City, Utah Cemetery at 12:30pm under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences may be left at www.mortuary.org
