Sue Esplin, age 77, passed away on October 26, 2024 at her home in Cedar City, Utah. She was born on November 27, 1946 in Fillmore, Utah to Jess Charles Bennett and Estell Robison Bennett. She grew up in Holden, Utah with a short time spent in Winnemucca, Nevada. She graduated from Millard High School in 1965, attended SUSC, and graduated from Beauty School in Provo, Utah. She married the love of her life, Karl Reed Esplin on August 30, 1968 in the Manti, Utah Temple. They had six wonderful children.
Sue grew up working with her parents at their gas station and motel. After high school she worked at Zion National Park for two summers. She met many great people while working there and was still friends with some of them. While her children were growing up, she was an Avon lady, she also worked at B&D Discount clothing store. When her youngest child was old enough to go to school, she got a job at North Elementary as a Reading and Math Aide. She loved all of the children at the school. She retired after 22 years. Sue was also a 4-H leader for her children, teaching them how to cook and sew. Her favorite part was taking them to 4-H camp during the summer. She was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was the ward Relief Society and Primary President, served in the Young Women’s Presidency, the Stake Primary, chorister in Primary and Sacrament Meeting and the ward librarian. She was dearly loved by those she served and those she served with.
Sue loved cross-stitching, reading, watching Hallmark movies, watching cooking shows, crocheting baby blankets (most of which went to her grandchildren), fishing, camping, and playing games on her phone. Every year for her birthday she would receive a nutcracker from our dad, she proudly displayed them on top of the piano at Christmas so everyone could enjoy them. She loved being part of the Ladies Fire Auxiliary, the fire department holds a special place in our hearts. The thing that Sue loved the most was watching her kids and grandkids play sports and participate in dance, plays, and band concerts. Everywhere we went someone knew her and expressed their love for her.
Sue is survived by her children Stacie Esplin, Cedar City, Utah, Jeanette (Kevin) Rowley, Cedar
City, Utah, Mindi (Brandon) Peterson, Mona, Utah, Aaron (Annette) Esplin, LaVerkin, Utah, Allison (Jeremy) Williams, Provo, Utah and Lisa Esplin, Panguitch, Utah. As a family, we would like to send a special thank you to all of the nurses at dialysis that helped our mom the last few years, also the hospice care team from Zion’s Way, and most importantly the sweet ladies from her ward that got her to dialysis 3 times a week. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!
