Marsha Susan Allanson “Marty”,79, passed away June 9, 2024 in Cedar City, Utah. She was born February 3, 1945 in Los Angeles, California to Joseph Wanton Clark and Amelia Mildred Clark.
Marty attended California State College of Los Angeles and Allan Hancock College of Santa Maria, CA. She went on to work as a Procurement Agent II at The Boeing Company, Vandenberg AFB, CA for five years. She then worked as an Account Clerk II for the Health Care Services, County of Santa Barbara, CA. And as an Office Manager for a major dentist in Santa Maria, CA. She was also a Self-Employed Owner of The Santa Maria Craft Center in California for 10 years.
Marty married Dan Allanson on February 22, 1975, on The Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. They were the second couple to do so. Their reception was held on board the ship and it was outstanding. After celebrating their marriage, they went to the South Pacific for 6 weeks. All expenses were paid by the Xerox Corporation where Dan worked. Marty and Dan loved to travel together and be together all of the time.
Marty and Dan spent twenty-eight years in Santa Maria, California before retiring in 2003 and moving to Cedar City, Utah. There they had a custom home built which they both loved very much.
Marty loved knitting, tole painting, and Brazilian embroidery. Her favorite craft was making Afghans for family members. She will be greatly missed by friends, family– and especially Dan!
Dan would like to thank all staff members at Three Peaks Assisted Living and Memory Care in Cedar City for their outstanding response in taking care of Marty. Also, thank you to all hospice representatives.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Christ the King Catholic Church (690 Cove Dr, Cedar City, UT 84720). A Viewing will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the church prior to the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
