Kent ‘S’ Osborne, 65, passed away July 26, 2024, at the home of Joe and Jill Deim in LaVerkin, Utah. Kent was born March 11, 1959, in Cedar City, Utah to Bruce H. Osborne and Eleene Marie Osborne. He grew up in Cedar City and graduated from Southern Utah University with a bachelor’s degree in industrial arts education in 1984, and a few years later, he completed a degree in machining.

Kent was the kindest of men. A neighbor in Providence, Utah once remarked to his wife Teresa, “Your husband has to be the nicest man in the whole wide world.”  A loyal husband, father, grandfather, his family was his priority. He provided for and cared for them with all the energy of his heart. Kent was a hard worker—at one point, he worked three jobs. After teaching high school machine shop and electricity classes, he went on to work as a machinist. During the last ten years, Kent drove semi-trucks and enjoyed stopping in to see family and friends whenever he could. One former employer recently said, “Kent is a great friend and example to me; he was an exemplary employee when he worked for me and is just an all-around great person”

Kent had a soft spot in his heart for pioneer and patriotic stories—he loved reading and telling them. Growing up, Kent and his twin Brent were close. They were active young men who were involved in Boy Scouts and sports. Kent loved the mountains. He worked for the Bureau of Land Management and fought forest fires; he knows Cedar Mountain like the back of his hand. Kent and Brent helped their dad build the family cabin up at Panguitch Lake. Of all the places on earth, there is no other place he’d rather be, except for home.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kent fulfilled an honorable two-year mission at the end of 1978, at the Edinburgh, Scotland mission. Kent is one of the pure in heart; he believed in living a good life and taking care of his family, and he served his God all the days of his life.

Kent loved and respected his sweetheart, Teresa, always making her feel beautiful and important. When he spoke to his daughters on the phone, he often closed the conversations with, “Love you bunches!” He loved his girls and his grandchildren with all his heart. He will be very missed. The Osborne family takes great comfort in their belief that they will be with Kent again. John 10:28: “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish…” “The family is the foundation of eternal glory”. – Joseph F. Smith.

Kent is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce H. Osborne and Eleene Marie Nowers Osborne. He is held in loving memory by his spouse, Teresa RaDawn Jenkins Osborne, as well as his children, Laura Lottie Neuffer, Jill Marie Deim, Mary Eliza Osborne, Sarah Joy Moser, and Tiffany Lucy Nielsen, and their spouses, Joshua Isaiah Neuffer, Joseph Deim, Seth David Moser, and Westley Lucas Nielsen. He is also remembered by his siblings and their spouses: Ann Marie Griggs, Edwin B. Griggs, Rex Osborne, Taeh Carol Osborne, Brent ‘J’ Osborne (Kent’s twin), and Carol Louise Williams Osborne. He will be missed by his eight grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews.
