Arvin Douglas Burton passed away on 7/19/2024 in Cedar City, Utah after a long battle with cancer. 

He was born in Eakley, OK.  Arvin was born in 1937 and was one of 10 children born to Herbert Shelley and Jesse Burton.  He was a Veteran and met and married his wife, Janet, while in the Air Force.  They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary earlier this year.

Arvin was the father of 3 children that he and Janet raised in Bakersfield, California.  He is the grandfather of 8 and great-grandfather of 11!  Arvin loved history and participated for over 15 years in Civil War Reenactments.  He loved to hunt, fish and camp regularly and eventually retired to Cedar City after working for the Federal government for 32 years. He taught hunters safety to the Cedar community for 15 years and enjoyed participating in many activities that made the city around him better. 

He is survived by his wife (Janet), daughter (Mary and spouse, Stan) and son (Darryl and spouse, Kim) along with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers (Phillip and Robert) and his sister (Jewel).

Arvin was preceded in death by his son (Douglas Arvin, Jr and spouse, Carol), his 5 brothers (Don, Duane, Thomas, Jesse and Lonnie) and sister (June) and his parents who all resided in Bakersfield, CA.

The family would appreciate donations to your local Cancer Center in lieu of flowers. 

Funeral services will be held at the Bakersfield National Cemetery 30338 East Bear Mountain Blvd. in Arvin, CA at 10:45 a.m. on August 15th, 2024. Interment will be in the Bakersfield National Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent at www.mortuary.org
