Two board member’s terms came to an end Tuesday night in the final Board of Education meeting of 2024. Jeff Corry and Dave Staheli chose to not run again for their seats on the board.

Other board members, the community and Superintendent Dr. Lance Hatch said their goodbyes and expressed gratitude for the two men’s service.

“Jeff has devoted countless hours to the students, staff and families of our district,” Hatch said of Corry. “Through his leadership, thoughtful decision making and genuine care for our schools, Jeff has made a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come.”

Regarding Staheli, Hatch said: “His influence and leadership were instrumental in shaping our vision, mission and values, a foundation that will guide the district for years to come. Dave’s assurance that families and the district work hand in hand to support students, reflect his deep care of our community and his belief in the potential of a home and school partnership.“

Corry was unable to attend the meeting due to illness. However, Staheli gave his final board report and spoke of his appreciation of serving with Corry. He thanked the community members who often attend board meetings. He also expressed gratitude for his fellow board members and district administration for their work in meeting the goals of the board and embracing the vision and mission statement.

“This has been, I think, kind of a unique board this last couple of years,” he said of the move to seven members. “The perspectives that have been shared, we don’t always agree with each other, almost all the time we do. We have good healthy discussions and I think that’s been one of the most interesting and enjoyable parts of this.”

Two new board members — Tyrell Eddy and John Taylor — will take the oath of office in January.
