IVINS – As he was playing his opening round at the Black Desert Championship on Thursday, Adam Svensson didn’t have a thought about the possibility of shooting a 59. Even as the birdies kept falling, the Canadian admitted “you’ve got to get a little bit lucky here and there.”

When the round ended, Svensson finished with an 11-under 60, which was good for a two-shot lead over Henrik Norlander and Matt McCarty on the par-71, 7,371-yard layout.

Kevin Streelman – who hit the first official tee shot that kicked off the PGA Tour’s return to Utah – was another two shots back with his 7-under 64 along with Sam Ryder, who played in Thursday’s afternoon wave in the 132-player field.

As things stand right now, Svensson is 1-over on his second round and stands at 10-under, still good for a one-shot lead over Norlander, McCarty and Carson Young, who is 3-under through his first seven holes.

Norlander tees off his second round at 1:47 p.m., and McCarty will start at 2:25.

Check back here later today for an update following completion of the morning wave of players.
