Rotary Clubs bring together people across generations who wish to create lasting change in the world, in their communities, and in themselves. That is exactly what the “Rotary Club” means. The Cedar City Rotary Club, a member of Rotary International, the world’s first service organization, works to build a better community.
Cedar City Rotary Club was organized June 10, 1925, as Club #1060 n Utah District #5420. For over 99 years our Rotary Club has been proudly serving the Cedar City community participating in many charitable activities. From building the Veteran’s Park, cleaning graffiti from overpasses and volunteering at local nonprofits, the club’s drive has been vast and varied since 1925. Currently with 115 members, Rotarians come from private businesses, education, construction, healthcare, government and nonprofits, among other fields-all rallying the shared MOTTO: “SERVICE ABOVE SELF.”
The Cedar City Rotary Club regularly donates to charitable causes in Iron County and beyond. They fund these donations through both contributions from members and with annual fundraisers. Rotarians work to support education and grow local economies, along with community service projects.
“Now is the time for us to help the children in the community in another way-with homegrown, hometown water features in the beautiful Canyon Park,” according to Cedar City Rotary Club.
The 27th Annual July Jamboree-Car Show was held from 4:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. July 13th in Historic Downtown Cedar City. Admission was free.
One of the big draws to the jamboree was the Classic Car Show, 350 cars lined Cedar City Downtown Main Street.
And it was more than just cars, there were more than 180 vendors that are not just food vendors, but all kinds of vendors, from food to clothes to jewelry to all kinds of services including a Bounce House for the kids. They lined Cedar City Main Street and had overflowed into the Main Street Park. Over 20,000 people attended the annual event. Featuring vendors from the community, a beer garden, great food, a bouncy house, and of course, 350 classic cars. It was an unforgettable event for the whole family with activities for all ages.
But there’s more to the July Jamboree than just a good time. Through the jamboree, the Cedar City Rotary Club can fund, and raise money for charitable causes in our community. Through sponsorships and vendor fees, the Rotary Club has been able to raise around $100,000 this year. They raise money and then they give it to charity in our city here. What happens is the money they raise, they turn around and it goes back to our community. One of the projects that we all should be aware of, they just funded the new upgrade to the electricity down in Main Street Park.
The July Jamboree is not just an event, but a celebration of community spirit. It brings people together, supports local business, and provides a platform from showcasing the unique culture of Cedar City. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor, the July Jamboree offered a wonderful opportunity for everyone attending, the best of what the town has to offer!
The Cedar City Rotary Club would like the thank the over 60 sponsors and everyone who attended and hope they return next year-who knows, it might just be bigger and better!
