Marlynn Smith, age 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on February 5th, 2026. She was born on December 12th, 1936 in the hospital in Cedar City to Rue and Marva (Corry) Heppler.

She grew up in Beaver, Utah with her brothers and their dog, Skipper. Her first job was at the Dairy Queen that her father opened. She then went on to work as a bank teller, a waitress at the cafe, the secretary of an elementary school, and as an admissions coordinator at Southern Utah University. It was while waitressing at the cafe that she met her beloved husband, Con Smith.

Con and Marlynn married in Las Vegas in Bishop Bunker’s home on March 16th, 1955, and were later sealed in the St. George temple. Marlynn’s happiest years together with her husband were spent traveling to Europe and Hawaii, raising their three wonderful boys, and dancing the night away.

Marlynn was preceded in death by her husband, Connell, of 61 years, and survived by their children Chris (Xiaoli); Kelly (ReNae); Lynn (Sheri); grandchildren, Mandie (Dan); Kaleb, Trevor (Cierra); McCall (John); Raquel, and 3 great grandchildren, Nathan, Shawn, and Canyon.

A graveside service will be held at the Cedar City cemetery, 685 North Main Street, on March 16th at 10 AM.
