Linda Griffiths Reese, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and nurse, passed away in her home on October 18th, 2024 with her husband and family by her side. She was born on May 19, 1950 to DeVona Hamilton and Lewis Clark “Pete” Griffiths. Linda was the youngest of four children, all girls. Her mother was a teacher and her father was a farmer and worked for the railroad. She spent her early years in Greenville before her family moved to Beaver, Utah, where she graduated from Beaver High School in 1968. Greenville always held a special place in her heart and she had many fond memories of spending time with her grandmother there.
Shortly after graduation, she moved to Cedar City to attend the College of Southern Utah. Here she met her sweetheart of 53 years, Allen Reese. It was love at first sight and they were married three months later. They moved to Salt Lake City for a few years and then to St. George for another three. Shortly after welcoming their first child they moved home to Parowan Utah and began building their dream of owning their own business. Their dream came true in 1975 when they established Reese Automotive, which their son continues to operate today. In 1978, now with two children, they built their forever home, and added two more children to their family. Their home, with its beautiful backyard, became the heart of family gatherings, serving as the backdrop for cherished family memories. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, it became the scene of joyful summer picnics that she looked forward to. Linda had many talents, she enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and was a skilled seamstress, making many of her children’s clothes and all of their Halloween costumes. She was a wonderful grandma. She loved to bake and was famous for her chocolate chip cookies and brownies. Her children and grandchildren have memories of sitting on the kitchen counter eating cookie dough while she baked.
Linda started her career as a secretary but soon turned her attention to raising her children. Once her children were older, Linda followed her passion for helping others and pursued a career in nursing, earning her LPN degree. She went on to work in a variety of roles that allowed her to touch the lives of many, from Home Health to labor and delivery, Work Med, and the Iron County Nursing Home. Throughout her career, she was known for her compassion, kindness, and dedication to her patients, many of whom remember her for the care she provided during some of their most vulnerable times.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Allen Reese, children: Kristine (Eric) Edwards of Parowan, Weston (Brandie) Reese of Parowan, Monica (Kelly) Stones of Parowan, and Janet (Kelly) Cornwall of Monroe, Utah, 11 Grandchildren, and 2 Great Grandchildren, Sisters Helen Pittman, Margaret Daniels and Brother-in-Laws Roger (Carolyn) Reese, and Stan Reese. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Genevieve Gilespie. She missed her parents dearly and the reunion on the other side will be so sweet. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. To everyone who cared for Linda throughout her battle with cancer, all of us are deeply grateful for your friendship to her and your kindness and compassion. We would like to add a special thank you to her Sister Margaret and Nephew Kelly Daniels and his wife Kim for their love and support of Mom while traveling to California for her treatments.
