Carol Elaine Love Bullock, 87, passed away on June 29, 2026, surrounded by loving members of her family. Carol was born on January 18, 1939, to Leo G. Love and D. Alice Love in Rockford, Illinois. She lived there until her parents bought a home in Davis Junction, Illinois, where she grew up alongside her five siblings.
On January 1, 1959, she married the first love of her life, Preston L. Leonard. They were blessed with five children and were happily married until Preston passed away on September 30, 1971. After Preston’s death, Carol packed up her life and children, and moved to Cedar City, Utah, where she raised them.
Carol was a switchboard operator at Mountain Bell Communications for many years, where her love of ‘chatting’ was put to work every day. That work, along with help from family, friends, neighbors, and the ward, allowed her to provide for her family.
Eventually, she met and fell in love with the second love of her life, James R. Bullock, and they were married December 15, 1980. Jim added his own grown children to the family: Evelyn, Cindy, Terry, and Jim. Carol and Jim loved to meet in Warm Springs to enjoy time together and catch up with their many friends and family. She was an avid swimmer and felt at peace in the water.
One of Carol’s great loves in life was sharing her heart through baking. She was well known around town for her banana cream pies, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, and cinnamon diamonds. She enjoyed sharing her baked goods with everyone she knew, and those she didn’t. Her house was always open to family, friends, and anyone who needed a place to be.
Carol is survived by her children: Gary (Michele) Leonard, Jane Werber, Valerie (Dale) Meyers, Alice Ann (Terry) Christopher, and Becky (Greg) Stubbs. She is also survived by Jim’s son, Jim Bullock, and by her brother, Bruce (Margie) Love. She leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless others who called her “Grandma.”
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Preston and Jim, her parents, Leo and Alice Love, and her siblings, Richard, Doug, Kathy, and Janet.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11:00 am in the 15th Ward Chapel (500 W. 400 N., Cedar City, UT). Viewings will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N. 300 W., Cedar City, UT) and prior to the service on Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:30 am at the church.
