Helen-Louise “Louise” Chase Hickman, 91, passed away on July 14, 2026, in Cedar City, Utah.

Louise was born on December 30, 1934, in the Los Angeles area, the only child of Rhomain Burton Chase and Ethel Mae Myers. She later lived in Texas and Arizona before marrying Robert Ernest Hickman. In 1959, they moved to the Riverside area, where they raised their family.

Louise devoted herself to her family and their interests. She was active in bowling leagues and the Women’s Club, volunteered with 4-H, and became deeply involved in the P.O.A. show circuit alongside her children and granddaughters. Later, she enjoyed golfing and volunteering at a thrift store benefiting San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital.

In 1998, Louise moved to Cedar City to be near her daughter, April. In her later years, she became an accomplished crocheter, often making blankets for the next family member to arrive. She also remained active with her graduating class, the Zoeys, for more than 70 years.

Louise was kindhearted and generous, always looking for ways to show her love. She was known for her beautiful smile, her impeccable sense of style, and her deep love for her horses, cats, and dogs.

Louise was preceded in death by her son Arthur James in 1985, her husband Robert Ernest Hickman in 1993, and her son Robert Burton Hickman in 2021.

She is survived by her children, Debi Ashton (Larry), Alan Hickman (Michelle), April Yeomans (Bruce), Amanda Hickman, and Aurora Crane; her former exchange student and beloved daughter, Keiko Takahashi of Japan; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom knew and loved her as “Gram.”

Louise will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends who cherished her laughter, kindness, and beautiful smile.

The family will hold a private ceremony on the mountain in Cedar City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Louise’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization close to her heart because of her lifelong passion for helping children with cancer.
