Jon Christopher Brower, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 65 on November 13, 2024, in Cedar City, Utah. Born on February 5, 1959, in Riverside, California, Jon was the son of June Marie May and Leslie Myrle Brower. He was raised in a close-knit family in Banning, California, where he learned the values of hard work, family, and faith.
From a young age, Jon had incredible athleticism and drive for competition, particularly in football, basketball, and baseball. The youngest of his brothers, Jon had to be quick on his feet to keep up in their pick-up games. Those early experiences laid the foundation for a lifelong love of sports and hard work.
Jon graduated from Banning High School in 1977, where he was recognized for his athletic abilities and earned 1st Team honors for football. He later attended Rick’s College in Idaho, where he continued his education.
Jon’s work ethic was just as strong as his passion for sports. He built a successful career in the construction industry in California and later on in Utah. He was known for his work ethic and strong dedication to providing for his family.
In 1993, Jon married Sherri Lynne Player for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple, and together raised five children: Cori, Jonny, Abraham, Emeline, and Brookelynne. Jon was a proud father who always supported his children, especially at their sporting events, where he could often be found cheering the loudest. His greatest joy was watching his kids and grandson play sports and spending time with his family.
One of Jon’s greatest gifts was his sense of humor. He was a natural goofball who could make anyone laugh with his quick wit, funny antics, and infectious banter. His humor and ability to make others laugh will be one of the things most deeply missed by those who knew him.
Jon was also a man of deep faith. His belief in the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was the foundation of his life. Jon’s faith provided him with peace and strength, and it guided him through both the joyful and challenging moments of his life.
Jon leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work, and laughter. He is survived by his children, Terra Lyons, Cori Thompson (Josh), Jonny, Abraham, Emeline, and Brookelynne Brower; grandson, Brixtn; the mother of his children, Sherri Lynne Brower; siblings, Lee Brower, Sam Brower, Brad Brower, and Dawna; as well as many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, June and James Beal, and Leslie and Elizabeth Brower.
Jon’s family and friends will gather to honor his memory on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 11:00 AM MST at Southern Utah Mortuary in Cedar City, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 AM. Interment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. A live stream will also be available at www.mortuary.org for those who wish to join remotely and celebrate Jon’s life from wherever they may be.
