From Jonathan Pyne, National Park Service
Cedar City, Utah – After a very successful summer season, the Visitor Center at Cedar Breaks will be closing for the winter. Visitor Services will not be available starting October 13th, but the park remains open year-round. Visitors are still welcome to drive through the park, hike trails, and stop by our overlooks at any time. After the first major snowfall of the season, Highway 148 will not be accessible by car until next summer. Next week on the 18th and 19th, we will be holding our last Dark Sky Tours of the season, weather permitting. Limited visitor operations will resume in early 2025 for our winter season at our winter station on the North View Overlook. Look out for information about Ranger-Guided Snowshoe hikes in the coming months.
This summer, Cedar Breaks hosted over 61,000 visitors at visitor contact stations and hosted 5 festivals! We unveiled our brand-new Visitor Center that has already welcomed over 21,000 visitors through its doors. Our 1937 Historic Cabin that served as our Visitor Center for 50+ years will continue to be preserved as a human history museum for its future at our park. Our connection to visitors is stronger than ever as we prepare for a period of new growth here at Cedar Breaks. We have already seen a spike in visitation and expect to see further growth next summer.
We thank all of our supporters for another great season and look forward to reopening our Visitor Center next summer!
