Cedar City, UT, August 22, 2024— Iron Peak Fire was first reported at approximately 1:00  PM MST near Little Creek Road in Iron County, UT. The fire is currently 0% contained and estimated 800 acres burned. This acreage has not been accurately mapped and may change based on the mapping mission today. The fire was burning in a northeast direction after it was reported. Since the terrain is challenging, air attack crews were called in shortly after the fire was reported. Firefighters had a difficult time accessing the wildfire yesterday due to limited road access. Aviation crews limited growth effectively, and crews will arrive today and hike in through access points to support suppression efforts. 

As of 9:30 AM today, the fire is experiencing moisture from the incoming storm. Winds up to 25 mph may occur, increasing the potential for growth. Iron Peak Fire has not seen movement in any direction today due to the precipitation. There are currently no loss of structures or infrastructure and no evacuations.
