Enoch City: August 16, 2024-The Iron County community gathered today for the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of the new Iron County Children’s’ Justice Center, a momentous occasion that highlighted the generosity and collaboration of so many who made this dream a reality. The new facility, built by Alex Meisner Construction and supported by countless subcontractors, the Friends of the CJC Board, and the community, stands as a testament to the power of collective effort and dedication.
The community was led by Enoch City Chief and CJC Advisory Chair, Jackson Ames, who welcomed a large crowd that included local leaders, community members, and those who have been deeply involved in the project. The program featured heartfelt speeches from several key figures, each expressing their gratitude and reflecting on the significance of the new center.
Iron County Commissioner Mike Bleak shared poignant memories of the humble beginnings of the Iron County CJC, recalling how the center operated out of a small closet over 20 years ago. His words served as a powerful reminder of how far the community has come in its commitment to protecting and supporting its most valuable members.
Iron County Attorney Chad Dotson thanked the community for its unwavering support and expressed his deep appreciation for those who work tirelessly at the Children’s Justice Center. Dotson emphasized his commitment to prosecuting those who harm children, highlighting the center’s critical role in the healing process for young survivors of abuse.
State CJC Program Director, Tracey Tabet delivered an emotional address, tearily expressing her gratitude and admiration for the Iron County community. She noted how supported she felt by the outpouring of love and dedication that made this center possible.
Utah State Senator Evan Vickers and U.S. Representative Celeste Maloy also spoke, each recognizing the hard work and collaboration that went into the construction of the new center.
Vickers thanked those who assisted and supported the cause, while Maloy expressed her admiration for the community’s resilience and generosity.
Lecia Carpenter of Alex Meisner Construction thanked the subcontractors, the Friends Board, and the center’s Director for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful project. She acknowledged the collective effort that went into building this facility, underscoring the importance of teamwork and community spirit.
Jennifer Davis, Chair of the Iron County CJC Friends Board, became emotional as she expressed her deep gratitude. She thanked Alex Meisner Construction, the subcontractors, the Friends Board, law enforcement, and the entire community for their generous donations. “Without you all, this dream wouldn’t have been a reality,” Davis said. She also addressed the children and families who will use the center, saying, “To the children and families who will walk through these doors, we want you to know that this center is here for you. It is a place where you can begin your journey toward healing, where stories matter, and where you will always be met with empathy and care.”
Wendy Jesson, Director of the Iron County CJC closed the remarks, sharing her heartfelt gratitude for the new facility and what it means to the community. She emphasized the importance of the center as a place where children who have been abused can tell their stories and begin the healing process in a beautiful, safe space.
Following the speeches, the ribbon was ceremonially cut, marking the official opening of the Iron County Children’s Justice Center. Guests were then invited to tour the beautiful new facility, which will serve as a safe haven for children and families in need.
Today’s grand opening is more than just the unveiling of a new building, it’s a celebration of what can be accomplished when a community unites for a common cause. The Iron County Children’s Justice Center is now a beacon of hope, ready to serve those who need it most.
