American Preparatory Academy on Schedule for August 2024 Opening2 min read

From American Preparatory Academy, For Iron County Today

The new charter school, opening this Fall, is on schedule for opening and construction is wrapping up. Charter schools are tuition free and open to the public although due to high demand there are limited classrooms seats still available. Interested families are encouraged to visit AmericanPrep.org for more information.

American Preparatory Academy has numerous campuses throughout Utah and an extensive record of delivering success for children and families. APA has also received approval for a second campus and will begin planning in November once the current school is up and running. It is important to note that there is no impact on your property taxes with charter schools as they receive zero property tax dollars for either the one-time building expenses or the ongoing enrollment expense. This helps reduce the cost of living and negative impacts of inflation.

Over the last few months, APA has been laser focused on getting the building ready and hiring the best possible staff for our school. You have probably seen the complete transformation of the building located on Main Street across from the cemetery. This centralized location will help serve all students in Cedar City and Enoch. APA offers a high-quality classical education, direct instruction model, uniforms, banning cell phones on campus, and leveled learning. When a family applies for enrollment, they are contacted and explained every detail with how the school operates to ensure there is congruence between what the family wants and what the school offers.

Despite declining birth rates in Utah (1.83 which is well below the replacement level of 2.1) and elementary schools closing throughout the State due to low enrollment, American Preparatory Academy continues to thrive and grow showing that families are excited about the new educational options available to them at no cost.
