Cedar City welcomed the second stop of the Belgian Waffle Triple Crown of Gravel Series. This was the fifth edition of the Cedar City event. They were excited Cedar offered something completely different with the Cedar City location and gave the riders a chance to race on a gravel, sand, and rock route, at altitude, against some of the best cyclists from road, gravel, MTB and un-road scenes. Cedar created a new route that didn’t have a crazy single-track sector, but it offered a different, but ‘rippable’ un-road spiciness.
Cedar City really rolled out the red, yellow, and black carpet for these dedicated riders. The Road Race was punctuated by two dozen un-road sectors, dirt for 55 miles, over 137-miles and 11,000 feet of climbing.
The BWR Utah edition drew world-class cyclists from around the globe…including numerous former World Tour riders, defending champions from BWR CA, and many more just to partake of the unique challenge of the day. Riders who came to win had their work cut out for them. And riders of all abilities tackled the same course at the same time.
Cycling is life with the volume turned up. One cyclist said it wasn’t about the destination, it was the journey of feeling the wind on his face and trying to take in all the beauty of Southern Utah. He said the scenery was breathtaking and he definitely will be back!
