Sharon Clayson Crandall, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on April 8, 2026, just weeks before her 90th birthday.
Sharon was born April 26, 1936, in Ogden, Utah, to Heber Leo Clayson and Ethel Martin Clayson. Her early years were spent in Hilyard, Wyoming until they made the move to Utah. She graduated from Springville High School with the Class of 1954.
During her freshman year, Sharon met the love of her life, Gordon Crandall. In 1951, Gordon was called to serve with the United States Marines during the Korean War. While he was away, they faithfully corresponded, strengthening a bond that would last a lifetime. Upon his return, they were married on September 16, 1954, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage and built a beautiful family.
Sharon was a devoted and loving mother to her five children: Annet, Kevin, Brent, Clay, and Mark. She spent countless hours supporting and cheering them on in their sports and activities. Many fond memories were made at the ball fields each summer, where she could often be found helping run the snack shack.
She was actively involved in her community and had a deep love and appreciation for her heritage and community. Sharon was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served many hours as a docent at the DUP Museum in Cedar City. She also volunteered at the Utah Shakespearean Festival, where she found great joy in serving others.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sharon served in many callings throughout her life. Her favorites were her Primary callings, especially teaching the Sunbeams, where her gentle spirit and love for children shone brightly. Sharon and Gordon also served a mission together at the Mormon Handcart Historic Sites, working at Sixth Crossing in Wyoming.
Sharon is survived by her children: Annet (Terry) Jackson of Cedar City, Utah; Kevin (Carla) Crandall of Bunkerville, Nevada; Brent Crandall of Cedar City, Utah; Clay (Lorie) Crandall of Spanish Fork, Utah; and Mark (Sheri) Crandall of Bunkerville, Nevada; as well as 22 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Raenee Haymond, brother-in-law, Les Underwood and Gary (Cleo) Crandall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Crandall; her parents, Heber Leo and Ethel Clayson; her sisters, Vonda Sanford, Carolee Underwood, and Marlene Galbraith; her brothers, Clair Clayson and Craig Clayson; and her great-grandson, Hudson Crandall.
