Ruth A Wilson McKean passed away on March 16, 2026 in Cedar City, Utah. She was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer that took her quickly.
She was born June 19th in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Ernest and Emma Dalton Megenity. She lived in many states including Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, New Mexico before moving to Washington Terrace, Utah in 1943. In 1946 the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she graduated from West High School in 1950.
She married in 1951 and had three children. Her second marriage was to Orvin L. Wilson on September 30, 1961. He passed away on April 12, 1979. In 1984 on September 8th, she married Thomas M. McKean and moved to Gunlock, Utah. The next 16 years was a great adventure. Thomas passed away in 2002 in Cedar City, Utah.
Ruth worked for Cate Equipment Company for seventeen plus years where she became a part owner. She was a lifelong lover of opera and the arts. She was there for Maestro Abravanel’s first concert and his last concert.
She was preceded in death by her three husbands, her parents, and sisters Mary Ellen Megenity and Betty Lou VanDenBerghe, brother in law Harold VanDenBerghe, her son David G. Wilson, daughter’s Jamie Herrington and Katherine Bonacci. Her two sweet little pets, Charlie Dog and little people Peanut (dog), also preceded her in death.
Survived by niece and nephews; Sari, Matthew, and Joseph VanDenBerghe and their families, her grandchildren Dustin Olson, Griffin W Bonacci, Cassidy A. and Meagan E. Wilson. Her seven great grandchildren; Quinn, Carly, Allexis, Keegan, Penelope, Konnor, Kellen and three great great grandchild Decklen, Roan and Caine. Also many friendships she treasured. Last but not least Leslie Gillmore.
There will be a graveside service at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, March 21 at 11:00am, where she will be laid to rest with those she loved so much.
In lieu of flowers, her wishes were for friends and family to remember those in need.
