Robert LeRoy Overson, 67, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26, 2026, at his home in Cedar City, Utah. He was born July 12, 1959, in Cedar City to Robert Jay and Cathryn Mae Overson. Robert spent his entire life in the community he loved. He grew up playing Little League as a catcher, played football, and graduated from Cedar High School in 1977. He attended Utah State University for a year before returning home to help his father run the family business. On December 2, 1978, he married the love of his life, Kim Matheson, in Yerington, Nevada.

Robert devoted his life to raising his three children with Kim and working alongside his father at Oversons Farm Center. There, he helped build a business that served the community and fostered many lifelong friendships. After the business was sold, Robert cherished the time he spent with his dad—taking morning walks together every day except Sunday.

In 2015, Robert decided it was time to return to work and joined IFA Agronomy, where he enjoyed reconnecting with many of his former customers and friends. He retired for the second time in December 2025.

When Robert wasn’t working, his greatest joy was being with his family. He adored his grandchildren and great‑grandchildren and loved watching them grow. His happiest moments were spent at home with Kim, enjoying the peace of their life together and watching any sport on TV.

He is survived by his wife, Kim Overson; his children, Kevin (Amy) Overson, Sarah (JC) Riddle, and Shawn Overson; and his siblings Larry (Rae) Overson, Sharon (Ron) Bigelow, Margo (Kim) Matheson, and Cathy (Rich) Cortez. He is also survived by his mother‑in‑law, Mary Matheson; six grandchildren; and three and a half great‑grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Jay and Cathryn Overson, and his father‑in‑law, Bob Matheson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the LDS Church located at 1650 West Center Street, Cedar City, Utah 84720. Viewings will be held on Friday, July 31 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and again on Saturday, August 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., also at the LDS Church on 1650 West Center Street in Cedar City. Interment will take place in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences may be sent at www.mortuary.org.
