Patricia Murie

Patricia Woolsey Murie, passed away peacefully at the age of 82, on December 17, 2025 in her home in Cedar City, UT. She was born on May 14, 1943 in Cedar City, Utah to Delbert Ross and Zina Mae Bowen Woolsey. She grew up in Cedar City, graduated from Cedar High School, and met the love of her life Roger J. Murie. They were married in Cedar City on September 15, 1961 and later sealed in the St. George Temple for time and all eternity.

Pat became a mother on New Years Eve in 1962 when their son Bret was born. Their daughter Lanae joined their family 3 years later in 1965, and then their youngest son Ross came in 1967. Being a mother and grandmother was one of Pat’s greatest accomplishments. She was always supportive of all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful homemaker. The house was always clean and smelled of delicious home cooked food. She enjoyed making delicious meals from scratch and everyone always looked forward to eating whatever she made.

Once her kids were in school, Pat started working outside the home. She worked for Mountain Bell as an operator. She then moved on to working for U.S. West as a District Secretary and then before retiring became an Engineer. She retired early and decided she wanted to spend her days watching her grandkids, one of her favorite things to do.

Pat was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many callings throughout her life, but her favorite callings were serving in young women’s and especially primary. Her last calling was as a primary teacher. She loved her primary children so much and would spend hours preparing her lessons and handouts for the children. She also loved to serve in the temple. She went weekly with her mother Zina and cousin Raedell and looked forward to it. She also enjoyed going on a church history tour and loved her experience doing that. She was also a devout member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and loved family history.

Pat loved to travel. Her favorite place to visit was Hawaii. She made several girls trips happen with the 4 generations to Hawaii. She also loved to spend time on Cedar Mountain at the Ranch. She was a full-time thistle sprayer, bought a Tee Pee for the grandkids to sleep in, and always helped with the cooking and dish washing. She loved staying in her sheep camp and made it feel just like her home. She loved chasing her grandkids around and watching all of their events from soccer, track, dance, baseball, basketball and anything else in between. She rarely missed an event.

Pat was truly an angel on earth. She lived the example of what it was like to be Christ-like. If somebody needed something, she did not hesitate to help. She was constantly serving somebody. She always had a smile on her face and could make friends with strangers. She was fun and energetic and always someone you wanted to be around. Even in her final years, when she struggled to feel well, she was always happy and kind.

She is survived by her spouse Roger and her son Ross (Kaisa); Her siblings Brent Woolsey (Sherron) and Sharon Adam (Jim). Her 7 grandchildren Bobbi Simkins (Luke), Bryce Bladen (Blaire), Brandon Bladen (Whitney), Austin Bladen (Shyanne), Landon Murie, Ashlyn Murie, and Kamron Murie and her 10 Great-Grandchildren Summer, Preston, Case, Morley, Harper, Hudson, Julie, Macy, Weston, Oliver and Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Lanae Anderson, her son Bret Murie, and her parents Ross and Zina Woolsey.

The family would like to thank all of the many healthcare workers that took care of her over the years as her health declined. Most of the hospital staff knew her well and treated her like a VIP when she was there. Dr. Marc Corry and his staff, Marie Prince and Brooke Christian with Iron County Home Health, and Ethan Bunker, Olivia, and Alyssa from Mission hospice for their care the last few months of her life.

Pat did not want a funeral. She hated how sad everyone was. She wanted her services to be short and sweet just like she was. Her services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N 300 W, Cedar City, Ut). There will be a small gathering for family at 10:30 followed by a family prayer. Interment will be following that at 11:30 at Cedar City Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. A luncheon will be provided by the 9th ward Relief Society after the service at 520 S. 1100 W. Online condolences can be sent at www.mortuary.org.
