Marlyn Lovell, 88, passed away December 23rd, 2024 at the Anaheim Global Medical Center in Anaheim, CA. She was born April 22nd, 1936 in Cedar City, UT to James and Thelma (Berry) Lovell of Kanarraville. She earned a B.S. with teaching certificate at the College of Southern Utah in Cedar City. Marlyn had 4 children with her ex-husband Frederick L. Halliday: James C. (deceased), Mark J., Michael P., and Susanna.
She resided in Garden Grove, CA 60+ years. Marlyn worked as a teacher, substitute, school yard-duty, and retired as an office worker for the County of Orange CA. She enjoyed handcrafts such as sewing, quilting, crocheting, and often used these skills for humanitarian/charity projects. In her Wards she served as a Primary President, Relief Society Counselor, Cub Scout Den Mother, and recently a Gospel Doctrine Teacher. She volunteered at Lampson Elementary School as a PTA President, then years later working in the library and reading to children.
Marlyn Lovell is survived by her son Mark Halliday (Nelly Halliday) of Salinas CA, her son Michael Halliday of Garden Grove CA, and her daughter Susanna York (Mark York) of White City OR. Marlyn also has three grandsons, one granddaughter, and a great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son.
The closed-casket burial service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 10 at the Kanarraville, Utah cemetery at (385 E 100 N St), followed by a memorial service at the Town Hall (40 S. Main St).
