Marie Adell Hayes, a compassionate and resilient woman whose radiant spirit shone through every action, passed away on December 17, 2025 in Murray Utah. Born in Milford, Utah on September 20, 1950, Marie grew up to be a beacon of love, nurturing her family and community with an unfading loyalty. She spent her early years in Minersville and Cedar City, before moving to Enoch, Utah, where she lived for 50 years, creating lasting memories and cultivating deep-rooted friendships. Marie married Evan Stout Millett in January 1968 and later divorced. She married Gary Alfred Hayes February 14, 1992.
Marie was a kind-hearted soul, who found joy in the service of others. She had many jobs in her life including Whiting Brothers, Rocky’s, Coleman, Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, Sunshine Truck Stop, & Lin’s. She devoted many years of her life serving delicious meals to the children of Iron County School District as a beloved lunch lady before retiring in 2015. Her dedication to her work was a testament to her love for her community and her resilient spirit. Beyond work, Marie was a woman of many talents and passions. She found solace in sewing, quilting, crocheting, diamond art, painting, gardening, reading, and traveling with a group of cherished friends.
Yet, what she loved the most and what mattered to her more than anything was her family, especially her precious grandchildren. Marie showed her immense love and loyalty by putting her life on hold to care for her beloved husband full-time for the last 9 years of his life after a horrific motorcycle accident. Her compassionate nature extended to her religious involvement, where she served as a cub scout leader multiple times and was part of the Primary presidency in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her favorite calling was working with some close friends and her husband in cub scouts. In line with her faith, Marie lived by the verse, “Charity never faileth” (1 Corinthians 13:8), a testament to her unwavering love and kindness towards all.
Marie leaves behind an enduring legacy, remembered by her kids, Mark (Rozanne) Millett, Steve Millett, Laura (Gary) Mills, Hayla (Jeff) Richey, Mike (Jen) Millett, Andy LeFevre, Kaleb Hayes, 30 Grandkids, 5 Great Grandkids and one more on the way.
