Kenneth R (Kenny) Shakespear was born to Rett and Christine Shakespear in Panguitch, UT, on February 27, 1965. He lived in Washington, UT, for a few years and then moved to Cedar City. As a child, he loved fishing with his dad and playing with & teasing his little sisters. His teen years were spent doing adventurous things, including competing in the demolition derby, snow tubing at Wood’s Ranch (where he broke his hip), becoming an explorer scout (where he was honored with a trip to Washington, D.C), and earning his Eagle Scout award. He often talked about his trip white water rafting down the Snake River. He loved his family, visiting his grandparents, and going deer hunting with his cousins and his dad. He was a gifted baker & chef at Town & Country Restaurant and was known as a fabulous cook throughout his life. Kenny was brilliant in math and a proud graduate of Cedar High.
Kenny got his real estate license when he was 18, and worked at ERA Realty Center with his dad, before serving an LDS Mission to New York, NY (the same place his father and uncle served as well). Kenny then moved to St George, where he was a fuel and propane delivery driver. He loved the people he met there before moving back to Cedar to own his own HVAC company. He also enjoyed working at Davis Heating & Air for many years.
Kenny was a hard worker, and he did not like to sit still. He loved doing finish carpentry work. He loved reading Louis L’Amour books and watching Harry Potter movies. He loved everything outdoors: fishing, hunting, boating, camping, waterskiing with his family at Lake Powell, snowmobiling, gardening, and spending time at the family cabin in Panguitch Lake.
Some highlights of his life were an Alaskan Cruise and a trip to New Zealand.
He was always quietly serving others. He chopped wood and shoveled sidewalks for widows for many years. He was always looking out for the elderly. He took good care of his mom and was always thoughtful, giving gifts, including flowers, on Mother’s Day.
He married Julie Lutterman on April 15, 1994, and was blessed to have his son, Kaden Tellico. They later divorced but remained friends. He enjoyed being a dad and later, a grandpa. Kenny had many lifelong friends and gathered more along the way. Kenny had a good heart and will be missed by many.
Kenny passed away peacefully on October 7th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Kenny had some health challenges later in his life, and we are grateful he is now free from pain.
He is survived by his son, Kaden Shakespear (Kayla Johnson); Mom, Christine Shakespear; sisters Toni Carl (Romar) and Michelle Halladay (Erik); and his close friends and family, including Ed Smith, Jo Ann Templin (Tom), Adam Gwilliam, and Jesica Adamson. He also has 6 beautiful grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Everett (Rett) Shakespear, and sister Stephanie Hulet (Roger), nephew Isaiah Carl, and many loved friends and family. We know that he is having a great reunion in heaven with everyone he has missed so much.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time. Final arrangements are under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. To share online condolences, please visit www.mortuary.org.
