Jerrilyn Banks, age 73, passed away on August 11, 2024, in Cedar City, Utah. She was born on August 9, 1951 to Max Jay Payne and Madelon Jones Payne in Mountain View, Alberta, Canada. She married Carl A. Banks on September 11, 1970 in the St. George, Utah Temple. Together they had seven children, five daughters and two sons.
Jerrilyn loved spending time with her family, attending the temple, ministering to the one, singing in choirs, playing the piano, painting pictures for loved ones, and beautifying her yard with flowers. She enjoyed sharing her piece of heaven on earth (mountain property) with loved ones. She faithfully served in many church callings. She was a ray of light to many. She was full of love for others. She loved sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone she possibly could. Jerrilyn and her husband served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: Dominican Republic Santiago, Utah St. George, and California Los Angeles.
She is survived by her husband Carl; seven children Tonia (Darren) Loveland, Chad (Rebecca) Banks, Lorilee (John) Slack, Ember (Adrian) Gunter, Jill (Jared) Mortensen, Brent (Larisa) Banks, and Cheryl (Garrett) Stewart; 36 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister Jan (Steve) Hicken, and brothers David (Jeanne) Payne and Donald (Ellen) Payne.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11:00am at the LDS meetinghouse located at 800 South Laurie Lane in Cedar City, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday, August 16th, from 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday, August 17th, from 9:30-10:30am at the LDS meetinghouse. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. A livestreaming of the service can be viewed, and online condolences may be left at www.mortuary.org.
