Grace Jane Thomas Stone

Grace Jane Thomas Stone passed away peacefully at home in Idaho Falls, Idaho December 23, 2025, at the age of 85.  She was born November 16, 1940 in Pocatello, Idaho to Alvin John Thomas and Grace Burton Bluemel. Grace grew up with her brothers, Cyril Alvin Thomas and Raymond Burton Thomas, on the family farm in Samaria, Idaho. Grace was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She married David Leonard Stone on July 1, 1960 in the Logan Utah Temple.  David and Grace raised their three children in Stockton, California and Cedar City, Utah.  She loved and blessed the individual lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends with unwavering faith.

Grace graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education.  She later earned a nursing degree and worked many years at the Valley View Medical Center and as a home-health nurse in Cedar City.

“Grandma Grace” loved to take her posterity to the SUSC/SUU campus, located across the street from their home. She loved to read, to quilt, and to square dance with the Hey Cedars.

Grace is preceded in death by her husband David, her parents and her brothers. She is survived by her three children, Susan (Richard) Boardman of Idaho Falls; Camille (Derek) Bohne of Midvale, Utah; and David (Lynette) Stone of Liberty Lake, Washington; twelve grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Cedar Valley Funeral Home on Saturday, January 3, 2026, 10:30 am.  Friends and family are invited to a viewing from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Interment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery.
