Janis Adele Clark was born on November 28th, 1951, in Cedar City, Utah, to loving parents Dr. Adelbert Franklin Rich and Norma Lucille “Penny” Rich. She passed away peacefully in Smithfield, Utah, on July 10th, 2024.
Janis graduated from Cedar City High School in 1970 and married Randall William Clark of Cedar City in June of 1971, with whom she had three cherished sons: Darris, Travis, and Cody. The family later moved to Las Vegas, where Janis founded and successfully ran her own cleaning company for 30 years.
Janis’ family was the cornerstone of her life. She loved spending time with them waterskiing, camping and riding ATVs. She warmly welcomed her daughters-in-law to the family and embraced her roles as Nannie and Great-Nannie with boundless love and patience. Janis was a talented painter, seamstress and cook. All of which she loved sharing with her grandkids. Janis’ famous cookies and homemade pajamas will surely be missed. Janis’ joy was in creating lasting memories with her grandkids, engaging in crafts, and cooking together. Her presence was a source of love and comfort to all who knew her.
In her later years, Janis faced the challenges of early onset Alzheimer’s and aphasia, which prompted her to move to Northern Utah where her son, Travis and daughter-in-law Kym could help care for her. She became a beloved resident at the Birch Creek Assisted Living facility, where her family sincerely appreciated the kindness and care she received from the staff.
Janis is survived by Randy; her sons Darris (Laura), Travis (Kym), and Cody (Brandon); Eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. An intimate graveside service was held in Cedar City on July 13th, 2024. The family will post details about a possible memorial service on social media.
Janis is now at peace, and while our loss is profound, the memories we shared with her will carry us through until we meet again.
