National mountain archery festival makes its Brian Head debut, expected to draw more than 3,000 participants and spectators
Brian Head Resort will host the Total Archery Challenge (TAC) July 16–19, marking the nationally recognized mountain archery festival’s first appearance at the resort. More than 3,000 participants and spectators are expected to attend the four-day event, generating an estimated $647,000 in local economic impact, according to 2025 visitor spending data from the Cedar City-Brian Head Tourism Bureau.
One of the nation’s premier mountain archery events, Total Archery Challenge transforms ski resorts into expansive outdoor courses that test participants with steep terrain, varying distances and realistic 3D animal targets.
Participants reach the venue via the Giant Steps Express lift, which carries archers into Brian Head’s high-alpine terrain. From there, they hike through six professionally designed courses featuring more than 100 life-sized 3D animal targets. Archers can complete multiple courses throughout the day, each offering unique terrain, distances and shooting angles.
“With our elevation, terrain and proximity to some of Utah’s top hunting areas, Brian Head gives archers a realistic mountain environment to sharpen their skills,” said Amber Palmer, marketing manager at Brian Head Resort. “It’s also a great opportunity to bring visitors from across the country to Brian Head, showcase the resort as a summer destination, and support our local businesses.”
Beyond the archery courses, the Mountain Festival features leading outdoor brands, product demonstrations, food and beverages, evening entertainment and family-friendly activities. Guests can also enjoy scenic chairlift rides, summer tubing, a mini zip line, a climbing wall and a bungee trampoline.
Registration is recommended, as Total Archery Challenge events regularly sell out. Additional event information and registration are available at totalarcherychallenge.com.
