The Dixie National Forest has announced a temporary closure of access in the Duck Creek area effective July 13 through 23.

The closure is being implemented to protect public safety and preserve sensitive natural resources following trail maintenance along 0.7 miles of the Strawberry Loop Trail (#32000.5). Motorized and non-motorized activities will not be permitted in the area during trail work construction.

The purpose of the closure is to reconstruct the approach trail of 32000.5 at the crossing of highway 14. The current conditions of the trail are causing safety issues for the public. This project will reconstruct the approach and decrease the grade of a steep portion of the trail, creating a safer and more sustainable trail. Other trails and roads in the area will remain open. Kane County spearheaded the project through a trail maintenance agreement with the Forest Service.

The closure will remain in effect until July 23. Staff will continue to monitor the area and will provide updates as needed.

Visitors are encouraged to check the latest information on social media channels, or by contacting the Dixie National Forest Supervisor’s Office or Cedar City Ranger District at 435-865-3700.

The Dixie National Forest appreciates the public’s cooperation to protecting the landscape so it can remain safe and accessible for everyone.
