Pamela Irene Burns, age 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep February 15th, in Cedar City, Utah. Pam was born in London, England, on October 27th, 1945, to Joseph and Eileen Glaum. Her and her older sister, Valerie, brought tremendous joy to their parents who were exceptionally devoted to their children. She grew up with her family during the post WWII era. They enjoyed traveling to and camping in the English countryside whenever possible. Her parents instilled in her from an early age self-sufficiency and pride in a job well done no matter what the task.

In 1963, at the age of 18, she immigrated from London, England, to America with her parents and sister, later becoming a United States citizen. Upon arrival they settled in New Jersey. Not long after Pam moved to Southern California, she met the love of her life, Walter Scott Burns. After a brief time together and knowing almost immediately that they were meant for each other, they were married three and a half months later in Las Vegas. Six years later while living in Pennsylvania, they welcomed a son, Joseph Scott Burns, into their lives.

In 1984, Scott and Pam along with Joey left Mazeppa, Pennsylvania, and moved out west to Cedar City, Utah. Pam worked as a secretary at Cedar Valley Lumber and later as an accountant with Gubler & Wilson Accounting. She was an active member of the Community Presbyterian Church serving as bookkeeper and in various other roles. She enjoyed the lifelong friendships she made with countless church members over the years. Pam kept herself busy every day working on home projects or tending to her beautiful gardens and multitude of indoor plants. She spent many summers enjoying their mountain property and admiring the native flowers. She would often sit in her chair and say, “I like who I am, where I am, and who I’m with.”  She engaged in the local community supporting P.E.O. and volunteering at Intermountain Health. She was a devoted wife and mother, always attentive to the needs of her family. Pam was an artist, crafter, gardener, cat lady, decorator, baker, compassionate friend, and most of all a daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother to the fullest extent possible.

Pam was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Scott, son Joe (Mackenzie) Burns and four granddaughters, stepson Jim (Susan) Burns, and grandson. She will be greatly missed by many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on March 21st at 1:00pm MST, at the Community Presbyterian Church in Fiddlers Canyon, Cedar City, Utah. The service will be broadcast via a live weblink which will be shared later through social media. All that knew her, loved her, and called her a friend are welcome to attend. Online condolences can be sent to www.cedarvalleyfuneral.com.
