Cedar City, Utah — Living Hope Educational Enterprises, a Cedar City-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is inviting the community to help provide critical resources for approximately 200 children attending the School of Living Hope in Pakistan through a special matching fundraiser.
For a limited time, qualifying donations to the fundraiser can be matched through the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation, giving donors an opportunity to multiply the impact of their contributions.
Living Hope Educational Enterprises was founded by Cedar City resident Jenni Wilson in 2018 following the loss of her 16-year-old daughter, Raquel, to brain cancer. What began as an effort to turn personal grief into meaningful service has grown into an organization helping vulnerable children access education and basic necessities in several countries.
The School of Living Hope began with approximately 40 students and quickly grew as families in the surrounding community sought educational opportunities for their children. Today, approximately 200 children attend the school.
“Here in the United States, we have access to so many resources and opportunities that we can easily take for granted,” Wilson said. “For children living in poverty, something as simple as having a safe school, books, a working computer or clean drinking water can make a tremendous difference. Education gives these children a hand up and a pathway toward a better future.”
The current fundraiser will help address needs the school has been unable to cover through its regular operating budget, including clean drinking water, repairs and improvements to the school building, backup power, repairs to the school van, laptops for administrators, computers and repairs for the computer lab, student desks, paper and other essential school supplies.
The nonprofit is especially hoping local residents and businesses will participate while matching funds are available.
“One person may not be able to fund a computer lab or solve every need at a school, but when a community comes together, small donations add up quickly,” Wilson said. “And during a matching fundraiser, each donation has the opportunity to go even further.”
Living Hope Educational Enterprises operates with a commitment to directing donations toward programs benefiting the children it serves rather than taking administrative fees from donated funds.
Wilson believes education is one of the most sustainable ways to help children and families move out of poverty.
“We don’t just want to meet an immediate need,” she said. “We want to give children opportunities that can change the direction of their lives. When children are educated, they have a greater opportunity to support themselves, strengthen their families and contribute to more peaceful, thriving communities.”
Community members can support the matching campaign by making a donation, sharing the fundraiser with friends and family, or encouraging a local business or organization to participate.
The matching fundraiser ends September 15.
