The first annual Iron County Artist Studio will take place on Saturday, August 29th, from 10 am until 2 pm. This is a self-guided tour sponsored by Kolob Gallery in Cedar City, and it is free of charge.
The tour features 12 local artists at nine locations around Cedar, providing a unique opportunity to see where the work is created. Participating artists are: Arlene Braithewaite, Erin Shakespear, Tiffany Marchant, Mona Woolsey, Herb White, Mary Jabens, Debbie Robb, Russell Wrankle, Kevin Tice, Travis Humphreys, Marilyn Rose, and Brad Holt.
The idea began when oil painter, Tiffany Marchant, went on a historic home tour in East Texas, while she was there visiting her daughter. One of the homes she visited featured art by well known Texas artists. “That got me thinking,” Tiffany recalls, “we have some great artists in Cedar. Why not bring the idea here? Not a historic home tour, but an artist studio tour?”
She brought the idea to the other artists at Kolob Gallery, and the studio tour was born.
“There have been studio tours for some time in Washington County, and more recently in Parowan.” Said oil painter Brad Holt, who will be painting at Kolob Gallery during the tour, along with St. George painter Marilyn Rose. “It’s time Cedar City had it’s own tour. We hope to make it an annual event, and include more artists from other galleries.”

Also happening a Kolob Gallery, there will be an opening reception for guest artist Julie Rogers on September 11 from 4 to 6 pm. Julie is popular and well known for her colorful pastel depictions of LDS pioneers.
