Preseason Tournaments

The campaign kicks off on February 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the Thunderbirds will compete in a tournament hosted by UNLV. SUU opens against the University of Oregon at 12:30 p.m. before facing the host Rebels under the lights at 6:00 p.m. The weekend includes rematches with Oregon and UNLV, along with a clash against the University of Buffalo.

From there, the Thunderbirds head west to California for the Long Beach State-hosted tournament on February 14-16. Southern Utah will take on Kansas, St. Mary, Oregon State, Idaho State, and Cal, providing an early-season test against some of the nation’s top programs.

The marquee non-conference event comes February 21-23 at the Easton Bama Bash in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Southern Utah will face off against tournament host Alabama and perennial contenders Virginia Tech and Drake University. This marks an opportunity for the Thunderbirds to measure up against some of the best in college softball on a national stage.

Non-conference play wraps up with a trip to Fresno, California, from February 28 to March 2. SUU will square off with UC Berkeley, CSU Bakersfield, and Fresno State to cap a rigorous early schedule.

WAC Play

The Thunderbirds’ quest in the WAC begins at home on March 7-8 with a three-game series against Tarleton University. Southern Utah will host additional conference matchups against Cal Baptist (March 21-22), in-state rival Utah Tech (April 11-12), and UT Arlington (April 26-27).

Key road series include matchups against Abilene Christian (March 14-15), Grand Canyon (April 4-5), Seattle (April 18-19), and a final showdown at Utah Valley (May 2-3) to close out the regular season.

Notable Dates to Watch:

New Year, New Challenges: SUU Softball Ready to Soar in 20252 min read

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah University softball has officially announced its 2025 schedule, featuring a packed slate of non-conference tournaments and a highly anticipated Western Athletic Conference (WAC) lineup. The Thunderbirds are primed for a thrilling season after a significant campaign in 2024, including their first appearance in the WAC tournament.
