Cedar City, UT, August 25, 2024—As of August 25, 2024, the Iron Peak Fire is 90% contained and estimated at 544 acres. Multiple resources have been assigned. Fire behavior is minimal with creeping and smoldering. One new injury.
 
The Iron Peak Fire was reported on the afternoon of August 21, 2024 on the Dixie National Forest. The fire started on remote, rugged terrain.
 
Start Date: August 21, 2024
Location: 5 miles NE from Paragonah, UT and 23 miles NE of Cedar City, UT
Jurisdiction: Cedar City Ranger District, Dixie National Forest
Fire Size: 544 acres
Cause: Lightning/Natural
Fuels: Pinyon and mahogany
Fire Crews/Resources: One Type 1 crew, one local agency engine. Transitioning from a Type 3 Incident Command to Type 4 Incident Command.
Containment: 90%
Safety: Current threat is to firefighter safety, public safety, property, natural and environmental resources.
