Lyle Wimmer Mortensen passed away from this earthly life on June 6, 2024, in Cedar City UT. Born December 13, 1936, Lyle grew up in Parowan graduating from Parowan High School in 1955. He married Nancy Nowers on February 22, 1961, in Las Vegas Nevada and to this union were blessed with 5 children. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple. Lyle loved his sweetheart Nancy, and his family was his most treasured possession. 

Lyle’s 42-year career path employed him with Federal Aviation, working in various field stations throughout the Country. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in multiple bishoprics and scouting. He and Nancy’s most cherished calling was serving as ordinance workers in the St. George and Cedar temples and the Bishop’s Store House. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, sports, and watching a good horse race. He was a kind and loving Father and Grandfather and was so proud of all their accomplishments. He led by example and was a kind, patient, and soft -spoken man that will be greatly 

missed by so many. 

He is survived by his wife Nancy, children Kelly and Julie (Zane) Beaver UT, ReNea Henderson NV, Kyle (Shelley) Aurora CO, and Shawn (Crystal) Tropic UT. Fifteen grandchildren, 22 great, and 2 great- great grandchildren and brother, Jerry (LaRae), Cedar City UT. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Mortensen and sister Delores Imrie and granddaughters, Shelly Davis and Jacy Mortensen. 

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday June 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at (LDS Stake Center 155 E. 400 S. Cedar City UT). Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Beaver UT under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
