Intermountain Health St. George Regional Hospital celebrated the expansion of its Cancer Center multidisciplinary clinic, marking a significant investment in cancer care for patients across Southern Utah and surrounding communities.
The expansion strengthens access to cancer specialists and supportive care services, helping more patients receive comprehensive care closer to home. The new space will allow Intermountain Health to expand palliative care services and create dedicated treatment space for infusions and other supportive care needs.
The additional capacity also creates opportunities to establish an advanced practice provider-led supportive care and survivorship clinic, giving patients access to resources that help manage symptoms, navigate treatment, and improve quality of life during and after cancer care.
“This expansion allows us to bring more specialized cancer care and supportive services together in one place for our patients,” said Terence Rhodes, MD, PhD, senior medical director of oncology in the region for Intermountain Health. “Cancer care is not just about treating the disease. It’s about caring for the whole person. By expanding access to palliative care, survivorship services and specialized expertise, we’re building a more connected continuum of care for the families we serve.”
The expansion also brings new neuro-oncology expertise to Southern Utah with the arrival of Colby Cevering, DO. Dr. Cevering is a board-certified neurologist and neuro-oncologist who specializes in caring for patients with primary brain tumors, metastatic cancers of the nervous system, and hereditary tumor syndromes.
“We have long been committed to providing excellent care for patients with brain tumors in Southern Utah,” said Dr. Rhodes. “The addition of a neuro-oncologist strengthens and further refines that care by bringing highly specialized expertise to our team, allowing patients and families to receive even more comprehensive treatment close to home and surrounded by their support system.”
The expansion reflects Intermountain Health’s ongoing commitment to meeting the growing healthcare needs of the region by ensuring patients have access to specialized cancer care without needing to leave their community.
The Cancer Center at St. George Regional Hospital provides a comprehensive approach to cancer treatment, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, genetic counseling, navigation, survivorship services, and supportive care.
Intermountain Health leaders, caregivers, Foundation members and community supporters gathered Sept. 9 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the expanded clinic. The project was made possible in part through the support of community donors and Foundation partners.
