Release of draft analysis launches 90‑day project comment period

CEDAR CITY, UT – July 30, 2026 – The Dixie National Forest submitted a notice of availability for publication in the Federal Register for the draft environmental impact statement on the Brian Head Resort Expansion Project.
The publication will initiate a 90-day public comment period for the proposed project and a proposed amendment to the Dixie National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan. The forest will also post the draft environmental impact statement on the project website.
“The Forest Service has prepared a draft environmental impact statement for Brian Head Resort’s proposed expansion on the Dixie National Forest lands,” said Forest Supervisor Kevin Wright. “Public comments and stakeholder input guided this analysis from the beginning. We urge the public to review the draft, consider the alternatives and help inform the final decision.”
The Dixie National Forest will host two public meetings to review the analysis and answer questions. Details about the open houses, along with project documents, will be available on the project website.
Comments may be submitted online, by mail, by fax, or in person. In‑person submissions are accepted between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on holidays.
