Wanda Sorensen Sevy passed away at home on February 13, 2025. She was born in Richfield, Utah on January 12, 1928, to Joseph Ezra Sorensen and Iris Winnifred Sorensen. She grew up in Antimony, Utah, the youngest of three children with brother LaMaun and sister Varis, spending many happy days with her best friend, Coy Gleave. They somehow survived without running water, electricity and bathroom fixtures which came later. She attended Piute High School where she won the 8th grade spelling bee. She was an accomplished pianist, seamstress, and artist. After graduation, she moved to Cedar City to attend BAC. Never did she imagine she would meet the swashbuckling sheep rancher, Russell McKee Sevy. They married in Las Vegas, November 6, 1948, and were later sealed in the St. George Temple.
They raised two children, Julie Anne and Robert McKee Sevy. Robert was born with an incurable skin ailment, and she spent every day of his life caring for him until his passing in 2004. She was active in the Lady Wool Growers Association. She was an avid reader and had a love for learning, eventually going back to Southern Utah State College to complete her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics, graduating in 1986. She served in many church callings throughout the years including Relief Society Secretary, Stake Primary, pianist, and quilt committee chairman (being the only member). She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and pianist and was always willing to share her talents whenever needed. She selflessly cared for her children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren, spoiling them with delicious meals and occasional toys.
She is survived by her daughter Julie Anne (Steve) Winslow, grandchildren Winston (Tiffany) Young, Lee Anne Winslow, Chris (Kassy) Winslow, and great-grandchildren Samuel and Kelly Young and Maddex and Averie Winslow. She is preceded in death by her husband Russell McKee Sevy, her son Robert McKee Sevy, and great-grandson Beckem McKee Winslow.
