Tom, a kind, witty, generous, loving, & godly man, 50+ year resident of Adamsville on Minersville reservoir, Utah, blessed with prayers from many friends, holding his brother’s hand, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his current five-year residence at Beaver Hospital’s long-term care facility.

Tom, the fourth child of 11, born to Katherine and Alban Giesing at home in San Diego.  He’s survived by his brothers; Monsignor Anthony Giesing, Philip and Carol, Daniel and Jackie, Bernard & Patricia, & sister, Anita Leisen, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

From an early age he served in the Church.  Graduating from Saint Augustine HS, Tom joined the USMC during the Korean War.  After five years in the military, Tom came home to San Diego and worked in Real Estate in El Cajon, then a golf course in Borrego Springs, California.

Our children knew him as Uncle Tommy, who would come over to play cards, hang out for family BBQs, tell funny stories and, in summer, let them work in his store. One vacation time he & brother, Anthony, came to Beaver, Utah.  He fell in love with the area and began a fishing business at Minersville Lake reservoir. Many locals remember how kind Tom was when, as kids, they visited his bait store to buy ice cream or drinks. Vacationers and fishermen came from big cities in California & Nevada, becoming friends, returning year after year to launch their boats at his site and fish.

One of Tom’s best friends, Father Joseph Valine, pastor of Saint Bridgets, Catholic Church in Milford, was often driven by Tom to Mission Chapels in Bryce and Zion. Twice Tom was Father Valine Council Knight of the year. On June 13, 2009, Tom received the honors of the 4th of the Knights Of Columbus in Cedar City.  He was a great example of service and faith to his family.

It was hard to leave St Brigid’s to help with the new Our Lady of the Light Mission in Beaver.  Tom loved his faith and knew Beaver was where he needed to be.  He was dedicated to the prison ministry where, for years, he went Saturday and Sunday mornings to share Jesus’ love & teachings with the inmates.

In the 50’s & 60’s he enjoyed joining his brother, “Papa” Tony at the October “Night before the Hunt” parties in Beaver. Deer hunting and fishing were shared with many family members.  Tom loved to fish and taught our kids how to love it.  He enjoyed Sunday Brunch at Alfordville Cabin.

After retirement and then aging problems, Tom gave up his lake view home & moved into his LTC Facility.  He always praised his healthcare workers!  Our family extends deep felt appreciation, love and prayers to all.

Tom’s Funeral Service will be held in Beaver, at 2:30pm, on 7/06/2024 at Our Lady of the Light Mission.  There will be a Celebration of his Life, following Mass.  Location to be announced afterwards.
