My name is Treyton Tebbs and I am 7 years old. I attend Iron Springs Elementary School and I am in the second grade.
I used to live in Nevada where everyone had bike helmets. All of my friends wore their helmets and so did I.
Now I live in Utah, but there is no law requiring kids to wear their helmets. I want the law to change here.
Sometimes kids tease me for wearing my helmet when I ride my bike to school, but I try not to care and wear it anyway. But really, it hurts my feelings when they tease me about it. Why should I get teased when I am just trying to be safe and not crack my head open?
My mom and I have looked on the internet to see stories and pictures of kids who have crashed. It would be really scary if that happened to me.
One time Officer Ludlow gave me an ice cream certificate in front of my friends because I wear my helmet. I was so happy to get it. I told my friend that the police officers were giving ice cream certificates for being safe.
It is a lot safer to wear your helmet and I wish more kids would do it. I hope they change the law.
