CEDAR CITY—Canyon View High School’s (CVHS) Music Department will host its 16th annual combined Christmas Concert Wednesday, Dec. 14 in the CVHS Auditorium. There will be two performances— 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.—and the event is free admission with no tickets required.

All the instrumental and choral groups will perform in this concert in both group performances as well as combined group pieces. David Jordan, director of bands and orchestras, will direct the instrumental groups while Alex Byers, director of choirs, will conduct the choral groups.

This year’s concert has a special theme: “A 1940’s Christmas.”

“We will be commemorating the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor,” said Jordan.

“We will be performing music that was published during that time period, such as “White Christmas,” “Let it Snow,” “I’ll be Home for Christmas,” as well as a variety of other favorites,” he added.

This concert has been a huge hit in the community for the Christmas season for many years. The CVHS auditorium has been completely filled several years for the concert, and the one year the concert was held at the Heritage Center Theater, every seat was filled.

Jordan and Byers are excited to showcase the work their students have put together for this annual event. They encourage everyone in the community to attend and enjoy a night of music.
