The Parowan Rams shook off the effects from last week’s home shutout to Enterprise and rolled to a 33-20 road win over Altamont on Sept. 2 behind the running of Ethan Guymon, who had two touchdowns and caught a pass from fellow running back Cody Howard for another score.

The Rams improved to 2-1 on the season.

After Altamont got on the board first with a 71-yard touchdown run, quarterback Jake Matheson went to work, finding Codey Hanson on a 52-yard score, then Guymon found the end zone on a 40-yard run for a 12-6 lead after a quarter.

Guymon caught his touchdown from Howard for Parowan’s only points in the second on a 5-yard TD that stretched the lead to 19-7 at the half.

Altamont’s Preston Jessen kept the home team within striking distance in the third, scoring on runs of 23 and 33 yards, but Guymon would score on an 8-yard run to keep Parowan in front at 25-20 heading to the fourth.

The Rams would seal the win in the final period as Howard found the end zone on an 8-yard touchdown.

Parowan will return home next week to begin 1A South play against Milford, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. on Sept. 9.
