The Parowan Rams fell behind early on the road in their season opener, but quarterback Jake Matheson rallied his team with a touchdown pass and touchdown run as they held off North Sevier on the road 19-13 on Aug. 19.

The win marked the debut of new head coaches on both teams – Parowan’s Anthony Chidester and North Sevier’s Devin Lindley.

The host Wolves struck first in the opening quarter when Noah Porter – who scored both touchdowns – found the end zone on a 5-yard run for the 7-0 lead. Matheson got Parowan on the board later in the period by scoring from a yard out, but the extra point was missed.

Ethan Guymon put the Rams in front to stay in the second quarter on an 8-yard touchdown for a 13-7 lead they took into the halftime locker room. Matheson went to work with his arm in the third quarter, finding Hunter Little on a 51-yard touchdown, but North Sevier countered to pull within six on a 24-yard run from Porter.

There would be no scoring in the fourth as Parowan held on for the win.

The Rams will host former 2A South rival Enterprise in the home opener this week, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
