The shop features a unique type of frozen yogurt not sold anywhere else in the state, owners said. It is called “Only-8” and does not have any fat or cholesterol. It is also calcium fortified, has low calories and carbs, and has no preservatives.
“It’s really terrific stuff with better flavor,” said Rick Burrell, one of the owners of the shop. “It tastes great and is healthy for you.”
It is also safe for diabetics and those who are lactose intolerant, Burnell said.
Several people have been responsible for getting the shop up and running. Dan Heath, lead owner, Burrell, and Rachel Deuel, a manager of the shop, have been instrumental in getting the shop ready. Those involved have been excited to get everything ready for their customers.
“We’re really catering to families,” Burrell said.
The store will offer a 10 percent discount on Monday nights and will feature karaoke night on Thursday nights.
One unique aspect of the shop is its featured treat – the Yodo. Customers can have their frozen yogurt served in a cup as usual or they can have their yogurt served on a warm donut. The toppings usually used on the frozen yogurt can still be added to the top of the donut and yogurt.
“Everyone that has had one so far has said it is so good,” Burrell said.
The new shop is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sundays from noon until 7 p.m.
The new owners have worked hard to create a new atmosphere in the building.
“It’s really about the customer experience here instead of just the yogurt. We want people to leave happy,” Burrell said.
The shop is currently open, but the grand opening will take place May 15. As a special treat, since the Yodo is a new concept for most people, free donuts will be offered to customers that day, giving people the chance to try the new treat.
The owners and staff are excited to be working in this shop and encourage everyone to come in and try their products.
“We’re here to serve the Cedar City area, so come in and have some fun,” Burrell said.
