He married Amy Laretta Morrison on Aug. 25, 1941 in Montpelier, Idaho, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.
George worked 28 years for the Union Pacific Railroad. He and his wife treasured the 34 years they spent as temple ordinance workers in the St. George, Atlanta, and London Temples. They served four missions together.
George was a diligent scouter, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout along with his boys, and eventually earning the Silver Beaver Award. He was a veteran of World War II, having served two of his four years in the South Pacific.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all other siblings. He is survived by his wife, Amy Laretta, of Cedar City, Utah; his children, George Edwin Jr. (Joyce) of Taylorsville, Utah, Carl Alma (Jerrilyn) of Cedar City, Ramon of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Renea Hansen (Larry) of Panaca, Nev., Gary Lynn (Joyce) of Omaha, Neb.; 25 grandchildren; and 71 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Stake Center on 155 E. 400 South in Cedar City, Utah. Viewings will be Friday, Aug. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Southern Utah Mortuary, and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Cedar Stake Center prior to the services.
