To the Editor:

When the people in Cedar built the first building in Cedar (at what is now SUU) in the winter of 1897, did they understand how many people they would bless?

Have you gone to Old Sorrel on the SUU campus to help you understand what happened that year?

My Uncle Rex raised me. His family was part of those people. When I was young when I got home from school Uncle Rex Perry would say to me, “what did you learn today?”

Two of my sons went on two trips to Europe. One of the biggest attractions over there is their art.

During World War II I read where the armies tried not to harm the places with the great art.

Carl Purcell (professor of art retired from Snow College) said people climb Mt. Everest to get the feeling he gets when he paints.

When I went into Jimmy Jones’ show of the pictures he donated to SUMA, I was gasping. The beauty of those pictures was quite and experience.

What will an art museum do for Cedar City? I think it will make a very rich place to live. Send donations to SUU for SUMA (Southern Utah Museum of Art). The life you improve may be your own.
