T-Bird womens soccer hosting first home match Sunday

CEDAR CITY–After a grueling seven-game road stretch to start the 2017 season, the Southern Utah University soccer team will host their first home match Sunday, September 17, against Florida Atlantic University.

The Thunderbirds earned their first win of the season last Friday with a 2-1 victory over the Nevada Wolf Pack. Jessica French gave the Thunderbirds an early lead with her first goal of the season and Meghan DeHerrera scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute of play. Jahna Tacson and Ally Thimsen both picked up assists in the win.

Two days later the Thunderbirds were in Milwaukee to take on the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers where they fell 6-0 and moved to 1-6-0 on the season.

Scouting Report: Florida Atlantic Owls

The Owls will come into the weekend with a 4-3-1 record so far in 2017. This will be the third road trip for FAU after opening the season with four straight home matches. The team traveled to Michigan and North Carolina last weekend, and were able to come away with a 0-0 draw with the Oakland Golden Grizzlies and a 2-1 win over the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs.
