Redmen offense shut down in loss to Wasps

For the second straight week, the Cedar defense had an outstanding game, limiting its opponent’s scoring opportunities.

But the offense struggled to find any sort of plays that worked and the end result put the Redmen in the loss column again.

Joey Aagard scored a third-quarter touchdown to get Juab on the board, and Kolbe Barlow’s 38-yard interception return with less than one minute remaining sealed the Wasps’ 14-3 victory at home over Cedar on Aug. 25. The Redmen fell to 0-2 on the season.

Cedar held a 3-0 halftime lead after Zane Montgomery hit a 46-yard field goal in the second quarter. Despite Aagard’s score that gave Juab the lead, Cedar had another chance to drive for the winning touchdown when they got the ball with just over two minutes left in the fourth.

In the end, it would be a repeat of last week’s fumble against Provo that stopped the Redmen in their tracks. The only difference this time was with Barlow’s interception return for the clinching touchdown.

Cedar will stay on the road this week with a matchup at North Sanpete on Friday, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
