It was a bit of a challenge for the Parowan Rams to travel on the road to face Altamont in a season-opening non-region matchup. With Ethan Guymon running wild, the Rams had an opening night to remember.
Guymon ran for four touchdowns and returned an interception for another score, and Parowan made the debut of new head coach Carter Miller a rousing success in a 53-0 rout over the Longhorns on Aug. 18.
Guymon got the scoring started with a 50-yard run in the first quarter, then new starting quarterback Porter Wood joined the party, scoring on a 1-yard run of his own to give the Rams a 13-0 lead after a quarter.
Wood would deliver two more touchdowns in the second quarter – one on a 2-yard run and a 3-yard pass to Jake Matheson – as Parowan stretched its lead to 34-0 at the half and cruised from there.
Guymon’s other touchdown runs covered 5, 75 and 3 yards, and his 50-yard pick-six on an interception return completed the night’s work for Parowan. It was the Rams’ largest margin of victory since beating Wayne 68-20 on Oct. 23, 2015.
